DRAGON DRIVE BY KEN-ICHI SAKURA |
"He believed that...that if you could do good things for other people, you had a moral obligation to do those things. That's what at stake here. Not a choice, responsibility."(Uncle Ben, The Amazing Spiderman)
Responsibility is being able to be trusted and know what to do and what not to do. It is taking the high road and knowing when not to cross that line. It is also about obeying and staying in the guidelines. It can also be about being responsible to take care of someone of something like a pet. you are responsible for your actions and the consequences that come from that action.
In Just lather, That's all The barber is responsible for giving captain Torres a shave. He could kill him and be responsible for that outcome and the consequences of that or he could just be responsible and not kill him and face what ever comes after that.
In Dragon Drive by Ken-Ichi Sakura Reiji believes he is responsible for his friends and responsible for beating the bad guys and making everything right. He is responsible about his actions and knows the consequences of being irresponsible which could result in the bad guys winning.
While you seem to have a very good grasp of what responsibility is you may want to try and connect it to your novel more and add a direct quotation from the book that proves that this character acknowledges his need for responsibility.
